Building a Disability Inclusive Economy Through Community Project

 

 

The Disability Organizations Joint Front  has selected the Puttalam district to carry out the project “Building a Disability Inclusive Economy Through Community” under the aid provided by the Australian Government.

Centered in Puttalam district, this project has been started in Mahakumbukkada, Mundalama Nawakhattigama, Pallama, Arachchikattuwa, and Anamaduwa with the facilities of the District Secretary. This project is one year project from 2022 to August 2023

Accordingly, through this livelihood-building project, the young disabled community living in the regional secretariat will build their livelihood to get the necessary guidance for vocational training according to their interests and skills, and a development project will be carried out as a group in the area. We hope to provide the training and education, materials, and technical know-how needed to power the manufacturing economy.

 

 

Project Objectives

 

  1. To build a self help group that can support this project to improve the livelihood of people with disabilities.
  2. To study the economic and professional fields that youth with disabilities want to join.
  3. Empower youth with disabilities to become self-reliant and engage in independent economic activities to achieve sustainable livelihoods
  4. Youth with disabilities engaged in economic activities that are appropriate for them based on their interest.
